XCOM Creator's 'Phoenix Point' Receives New Trailers Ahead Of Launch (VIDEO)

For a while now, a spiritual successor to popular turn-based tactics series XCOM has been in the works from creator Julian Gollop, the project crowdfunded and developed under the fresh title of ‘Phoenix Point.’ A few years removed from the game’s original 2017 announcement and Phoenix Point is finally gearing up for its long-awaited launch, a welcome occasion for fans following multiple quality-focused delays from studio Snapshot Games.

With the release day approaching, a set of trailers have shown off multiple factions featured in the game’s clash against horrific, Lovecraft-inspired aliens. Detailing four in total, ‘The Disciples of Anu’ faction embraces cult-like unity with the invaders, ‘New Jericho’ arms-up for iron-fisted warfare, ‘Synedrion’ hopes for a worldly scientific approach, and ‘Phoenix Project’ ventures to bring humanity back to prominence. Check out a video playlist of all four trailers below.

In addition to these assorted showcases, Snapshot shared new details about the game’s launch via a new blog post to backers. Included in the update was a re-confirmed release date of December 3rd, as well as the team’s remaining work toward “balancing, polishing and bug-fixing” as well as “finalizing the cinematics, and getting the last few pieces of recorded dialogue added.” The post also clarified code-redemption for the game’s release on Epic Games Store and Xbox Game Pass for PC, in addition to any physical collectibles backers may have coming to them in “Early 2020.”

“We want to extend our sincerest thanks to all of our backers, customers and fans who have been along with us for this journey,” the post concluded. “It’s been one hell of a ride, but it doesn’t end here. You can be sure that, post launch, we will be working continually to make Phoenix Point even better. We already have plans and ideas for exciting new content which we will be working on and releasing throughout 2020, but please continue to give us your feedback, as well.”

Phoenix Point releases for Mac and PC on December 3rd, with ports confirmed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020.
