Xbox is quite well-known for the assortment of controllers it put out over the years, with players even able to craft their own using Xbox Design Lab. However, the green team’s latest controllers may likely be the most unique yet, crossing over with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie to produce a pair of extra fuzzy peripherals. Made to replicate the spiny textures of Sonic and Knuckles, these custom Xbox Sonic creations are actually part of an official giveaway going down in the next month.

As per a new post to Xbox Wire, these cuddly next-gen controllers are the first part of a greater enter-to-win sweepstakes involving a Sonic-themed Xbox Series S console. Unfortunately, the aforementioned doesn’t also sport a furry makeover but does feature a black design highlighted by a spiffy graphic of the upcoming movie’s poster. Most prominently, a large golden ring is displayed on top of the device, replicating their look from the movie and games.

Those interested will only have a chance to snag this Sonic Xbox bundle for a limited time, lasting from now until April 30th (8 pm PT), according to the official rules. The contest only currently accepts two methods of entry: retweeting the sweepstakes post on Twitter with the #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes hashtag, or by redeeming points earned in the Microsoft Rewards program. However, the latter method is only available to use in the US.

These custom Sonic Xbox controllers are undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind treat for fans of either brand and sadly, might present an easier method of actually getting an Xbox console these days. The effects of the global pandemic are still being felt, as supply chain shortages continue to see hardware regularly sold out or raised to exorbitant prices, either due to dwindling supply or the ever-prevalence of scalpers aiming to make a quick buck. However, at least for this sweepstakes, it looks like everyone is on a much more level playing field.
