Head of Xbox Games Marketing Confirms Partnership With Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is the freshly announced sequel to Monolith’s 2014 hit Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. After the information for the upcoming game popped up on Target’s website, fans’ anticipation levels have been skyrocketing. In the latest news about the title, head of Xbox Games marketing Aaron Greenberg has confirmed that they have a partnership with Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.
Yes we are marketing partner for this title, so look for a lot of @Xbox /Scorpio branding & #XboxPlayAnywhere

Matt Allen, the director of technical art at Monolith, was recently interviewed by TechRadar about the upcoming title. After seeing this, Twitter user @BeastFireTimdog asked Greenberg if they had received the marketing deal for the game, to which Aaron replied, “Yes we are marketing partner for this title.” When Shadow of War was announced, Microsoft made their own statement saying it will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, and that it will also be available for Project Scorpio, making it the first confirmed game for the launch of the upcoming console. This is why the confirmation from the Xbox Games marketing director shouldn’t come as a shock.
Getting back to that interview with Matt Allen, however, we got a little more information about Project Scorpio. Allen considers the working relationship with Microsoft to be “fantasctic”. In regards to Scorpio, he had this to say:
So far, we really like it. I don’t know how much they’ve revealed the specs, but it is an upgrade. It’s not just sort-of, ‘We’re going to upgrade some stuff.’ There’s things you can do with it. So, we’re pretty excited to be working with them specifically.”
He also seems to be enamored with the game being played on Scorpio with its 4K and HDR capabilities. “Until you’ve seen the game at 4K and HDR, it’s a different … you can watch it [in HDR] for a while, and after seeing it for a couple of months, you normalize it. Then you go back to not looking at it [HDR], and it actually is really different.” Until it is released, we can only imagine how incredible the game looks with that kind of detail. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is set to launch on August 22 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. There will also be versions for the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio.
