New X-Files Game Currently In Development, Has “Interesting Narrative” Focus
Even though Dana Scully actress, Gillian Anderson, has openly declared season eleven of the television series as her last, there’s still a hopeful future for the science-fiction franchise. Aside from the mobile app that launched in January, a brand new X-Files game is currently in development. The news was divulged by none other than the creator himself, Chris Carter.
Sharing with X-Files News, Carter offered little in terms of what the interactive title will be about. However, he did share that it will have a “narrative” focus, but steered clear as to what that meant exactly. Unfortunately for eager fans, details weren’t further pressed. With that being said, the creator remains hopeful about the future. When asked if the public will see other outlets that will prolong the cult classic series, Carter had this to say:
Of course. I made a joke the other day about The X-Files, the musical, but in reality, they’re actually making a really interesting narrative video game, different from the one that’s been launched already. Different approaches to X-Files story telling. So we’ll see.”
Well, that leaves a lot of room for imagination, but first things first – at least it will be an entirely different game compared to the one that’s already out for iOS and Android. As for the hot topic with Anderson’s very likely departure from the show, one can only presume how the team will work around it. It certainly won’t be the same without her.
