Meet the Voice Behind Mass Effect Andromeda’s Peebee (VIDEO)

Andromeda Peebee

As we approach the release of EA and BioWare’s Mass Effect: Andromeda, the excitement is seemingly impossible to shake. BioWare has a history of creating memorable characters that leave a lasting impression. What would those characters be without the incredible talent that voices them? Thanks to a new spotlight video released by BioWare, we get to meet the voice behind one of Andromeda’s most anticipated companions, Peebee. Ladies, gentlemen, and Turians, please welcome the incredibly talented Christine Lakin.

Christine Lakin has voiced characters in such games as World of Warcraft, The Walking Dead, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Rainbow Six: Siege. If you’re a child of the 80’s, you may also know her as Alicia “Al” Lambert from the family sitcom Step by Step. According to Lakin, Peebee is one of the most fun characters she’s ever voiced.

“She is impulsive, quirky, very different from the rest of the team. She’s completely goofy and sometimes the joke totally lands. And sometimes it’s…it really doesn’t. She’s also somebody who has never really trusted anyone. This is the first time she’s allowed herself to open up and be a part of a team or fall in love. By the end we see that she’s become part of their little family. Everybody sort of has like an eye-roll in the beginning, but they grow to love her.”

Lakin goes on to explain what separates Peebee from the rest of the Asari. Fans of the Mass Effect series are well aware of how serious the Asari can be. Peebee will be much different than those we’ve seen in the previous trilogy.

“She’s different from a lot of the other Asari. They can be kind of cold and sort of distant, and she’s very unlike them. She’s impulsive, and she’s spontaneous, and she doesn’t really want to plan much for the future. She’s definitely living, I think, her most authentic life. And she’s been a blast to play.”

“I think Peebee’s humor will resonate with people. For sure. I think some of the funny, off-handed things she says will definitely be a little bit of a hit. She’s a joy. She’s just pure joy, so how can you not love that?”

I know we all already do love Peebee, even more so now that we’ve gotten a further glimpse of the talent behind her character. Don’t miss out on Mass Effect: Andromeda on March 21, 2017 on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. How excited are you for the next chapter in the Mass Effect franchise?
