Twisted Metal TV Series Reportedly Gets First Story, Casting Details
Sony has been heavily invested in its video game adaptations as of late, having formed a central production house and even greenlit multiple anticipated projects based on its first-party properties. While HBO’s The Last of Us and a Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie are currently in varying stages of production, little has yet to be detailed regarding another of Sony’s confirmed adaptations based on the Twisted Metal series. However, it appears the first details may have finally surfaced by way of a recent report.
A new report from The Illuminerdi looks to have finally spilled details on Sony’s Twisted Metal adaptation, with the site describing the show as “a high-octane action comedy circling around an outsider trying to better his own life.” Simply referred to as “John,” the main protagonist is said to be tasked with delivering ” a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland” with appearances from “a trigger-happy car thief” and “a crazy clown with a recognizable ice cream truck.”

Additional word from the site suggests the adaptation has lined up some notable names to star in the upcoming series. The report reveals actor Will Arnet is currently set to voice the series’ psychotic clown Sweet Tooth in a role referred to as a “cameo” by the outlet. Another notable name was also floated in the form of Marvel actor Anthony Mackie, who is said to have been offered the lead role. However, the site stresses Mackie’s presence isn’t yet confirmed.
While none of this information is official and fans should likely stay on their toes until Sony makes an official announcement, The Illuminerdi has proven reliable with scoops in the past such as reveling Kevin Hart’s addition to the Borderlands movie several days in advance. As of now, the site has little other information on the status of the Twisted Metal TV show, with no filming or additional cast members to speak of.
If all proves correct, these new details seem to be pretty enticing for adapting the Twisted Metal story. While it’s a bummer the series’ figurehead Sweet Tooth may only feature as a cameo, the voice of Will Arnet is a pretty spot-on choice to play the flame-headed ice cream man following voice roles as LEGO Batman and BoJack Horseman. While not confirmed yet, Anthony Mackie would also be a pretty promising get after starring in numerous MCU films and the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
