Titanfall 3 Delayed While Respawn Focuses On Apex Legends
After some time off of the radar, Respawn Entertainment has been one of the most talked about developers so far this year. The developer found sudden success with their smash hit battle royale game Apex Legends, and they have caught the attention of many with the recent reveals of footage from their Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game. With the breakaway hit Apex Legends being a continuation of the Titanfall universe, many have been excited for the potential of a new Titanfall sequel. However, it seems that Titanfall 3 is now delayed, due to continuing work for Apex Legends.
EA, the publisher of Apex Legends and owner of Respawn Entertainment, recently shared a new blog update regarding the future of Apex Legends. The post is mostly dedicated to describing the newest features and improvements that have been added to the game. Before ending, EA uses the post to let readers know the latest plans that Respawn Entertainment has made regarding its future games currently in development. They make sure to note that there are two entirely separate teams working on Apex Legends and Fallen Order. They also state the following:
Additionally, in order to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for future Titanfall games. No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.”
This news will hopefully be understood by most, given just how successful Apex Legends proved to be in such a short matter of time. The last Titanfall game also happened to not perform terribly well in terms of sales, so naturally it would make sense that Apex Legends would become a higher priority compared to Titanfall 3. Hopefully, this extra delay allows Respawn time to provide an even more worthy follow up for Titanfall 2, and secure more funds from Apex Legends revenue to make such a sequel the best in the series yet.
