The Witcher Ghost Ship Easter Egg Revealed By CD Projekt Red

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Isle of Mists

CD Projekt Red continues to thank fans of The Witcher in honor of the franchise’s 11th anniversary. Yesterday, the developer dropped some Triss Merigold concept art from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Obviously, very few people had seen this art before the company’s tweet. However, just as few seem to have seen today’s reveal, which is in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

In the waters off Skellige, at a certain time of day, players can see a ghost ship sailing along. I played over 250 hours of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and don’t recall ever seeing the ghastly ship. Of course, there were a handful of 24-hour play sessions involved. I may have seen it, believed that I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation, and forgotten. Looking through the comments on Twitter, I’m far from the only one who missed the ghost ship.

Despite pleas from fans, CD Projekt Red has not yet provided any further insight into the ship’s location. Collecting all of the treasure Skellige’s waters drove me insane (so I only did it twice). I don’t think I have it in me to maneuver my skiff across the waves again without a destination in mind. That being said, I’m positive that many fans have already jumped back in on their quest.

It seems like we’re going to be getting Witcher anniversary gifts from now until eternity. Last year, CD Projekt Red posted an emotional video for their 10th anniversary on YouTube. We can expect at least nine more Witcher facts as we carry on with the franchise’s birthday. It’s been a glorious decade-plus, and I can’t wait to see what the developers reveal next.

As for the future of Geralt and company, there’s quite a bit to look forward to. The upcoming Netflix series just announced a huge portion of their amazing cast. A comic series, The Witcher: Of Flesh and Flame, comes out on December 19. And we’re now less than a week away from the release of the spinoff game Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. The past continues to hold incredible secrets, but the future of The Witcher looks just as bright.

Be honest: did you ever find the ghost ship? How many hours did you sink into Wild Hunt? Let us know in the comment section below! And for more gaming news and updates, be sure to follow DFTG on Facebook and Twitter!
