The Rise Of Skywalker DLC Coming To Star Wars Battlefront II This Year
The rest of 2019 holds much that should excite Star Wars fans acrossing multiple mediums of entertainment. November will see the premiere of the new video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the first live action Star Wars television series, The Mandalorian. In December, the Skywalker saga of Star Wars films comes to its epic conclusion with Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker. With such a momentous occasion, gamers have been wondering if they will be able to experience any of that film’s epic battles in game form. Now, it has been confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront II will indeed have The Rise Of Skywalker DLC.
EA and DICE recently released a lengthy Community Transmission on the StarWarsBattlefront subreddit. The post disclosed details about the new Battlefront II content planned for the rest of the year. The big highlights include a new large map based on the world of Felicia seen in Episode III: Revenge Of the Sith, and the Clone Commando, Best remembered from the classic Republic Commando game. What is perhaps the most significant is this mentioning of content based on the new film:
We will also be working toward the release of content inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While we don’t want to go into the exact specifics (no spoilers!), we can confirm that we will be building a new planet and some new reinforcements based on the conclusion to the galaxy-spanning Skywalker Saga.”
This is quite similar to The Last Jedi DLC for Battlefront II, which included the planet Crait, plus playable heroes Finn and Captain Phasma as seen in that film. There is no set date for The Rise Of Skywalker DLC, but it will likely arrive around the time the film releases in December. It’s great to see DICE continue to support Battlefront II this many years after its launch. And even when these updates stop coming to Battlefront II, it will not matter, because no one’s ever really gone.
