Telltale Games’ Stranger Things Footage Leaked After Cancellation (VIDEO)

Telltale Games - Stranger Things

The gaming world took a blow recently when it was announced that Telltale Games laid off the overwhelming majority of its staff with the intent of closing up shop. Projects that were in the works were cancelled, one of which was the game based on the massively popular Netflix hit, Stranger Things.

Thanks to the internet, however, we now have footage of the cancelled Stranger Things game. A handful of short clips began to make the rounds on the likes of Reddit and 4chan after former Telltale Games employees started to share stories and experiences from working at the studio. The footage that was leaked shows a few different scenarios, some of which even take place in the all too mysterious Upside Down. Check them out for yourself below:

From the footage seen above and below, we can definitely see the classic Telltale Games style. That said, the studio was enhancing its engine for the game, which we can definitely see some differences in the leaked videos. When it comes to the Upside Down, however, there seems to be even more of a change.

In a move potentially to go for full immersion in a horror setting, it looked as if players would be thrown into a first-person perspective. With a Demogorgon hunting players, a wild Will Byers, that sounds like one terrifying experience. Check it out:

“We are saddened by news about Telltale Games,” Netflix said in a recent statement. “They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”

It will be interesting to see if the Stranger Things project lands on its feet at another studio, or if its just meant to go the same route as Telltale Games itself. It’s also worth noting that the source of the footage above is unknown at this time, but it does look a bit too complex to be fan-made. Salt should be at the ready.

As for the unfortunate closure of Telltale Games, you can read more about that right here. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
