Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Kazuya Gameplay, Release Date Revealed (VIDEO)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Kazuya

Since first releasing in 2018, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featured far-and-away the largest roster of the series to date and has only expanded in the years since. Handing out a flurry of additional invitations to representatives from the Persona, Minecraft, and Banjo-Kazooie series,’ the crossover brawler’s next DLC finally adds Tekken to its growing list, summoning the ice-cold Kazuya Mishima from Bandai Namco’s iconic arcade fighting series.

While the first peek at Kazuya gameplay was announced in a particularly clever trailer at Nintendo’s E3 presentation, the Smash Bros. series’ tireless game director Masahiro Sakurai has now returned with a closer look at the character’s very Tekken-reminiscent martial arts moveset as well as the ins and outs of his demonic Devil transformation. As one might expect, Kazuya’s Final Smash attack is especially punishing, featuring a devastating volley of the character’s Final Blaster ability. Check out the full gameplay showcase below.

Releasing on June 29th for $5.99 USD, Challenger Pack 10 not only rolls out a fresh fighter to the roster, but also a few additional inclusions to fully leave its stamp on the title. Introducing a moody new stage based on the Mishima Dojo from Tekken 7 (with Heihachi hanging in the background, no less), the new expansion also adds a variety of shirtless and suited-up color varieties as well as a total of 39 music tracks ranging from throughout the fighting game series.

With the release of Kazuya now set, only one DLC character remains as part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2, with currently no sign of any more coming thereafter. Considering how few people guessed the inclusion of the Tekken mainstay this time around, it’s probably anyone-who-isn’t-Sakurai‘s guess who might get the presumed final invitation. However, fans are sure to speculate in the time until the next reveal. Alongside Kazuya, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also debuts a fresh set of Mii Fighter costumes featuring the likes of The Elder Scrolls and Devil May Cry.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
