Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dark Samus, Richter Amiibo Available Soon (VIDEO)

The big Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation revealed plenty of interesting content coming up for the all-star brawler, with Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses and several new Mii fighters coming to the game before the month is done. Before all that happens, series Director Masahiro Sakurai also made mention of new amiibo figures set to release, the likes of Metroid’s Dark Samus and Castlevania’s Richter Belmont joining the collectible family on January 17th.

Announced last year, Dark Samus and Richter were confirmed the series’ next featured amiibo following the two character’s debuts as echo fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. First introduced in the Metroid Prime series, Dark Samus is presented as quite the foe for the OG Samus Aran, featuring a number of the same abilities, but appearing dark and corrupted in appearance. On the other hand, Richter Belmont has been a mainstay of the Castlevania series for several games, the character part of a long line of descendants dedicated to the whip-cracking art of vampire hunting.

As per Nintendo’s official amiibo listing for Dark Samus: “Summoned into the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game, Dark Samus joins the battle as Samus’s echo fighter. With floatier movement, she’s a little different from Samus–and she doesn’t roll when dodging or jumping. If you look closely, you can see that her bombs and missiles look a little different, too.”

Richter’s amiibo listing, via Nintendo: “Richter from the Castlevania series joins the battle as Simon’s echo fighter in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game! His basic attacks are the same as Simon’s, but with subtle variations. In addition to that, his holy water is a different color.”
