Super Smash Bros. E3 2018 Tournament To Show Off Game Modes, Characters, And More

It’s going to be an exciting year for Nintendo at this year’s E3 celebration and fans can expect to see quite a lot of details announced for their latest brawling title of their renown series, Super Smash Bros. Despite a release date already announced for later this year, the giant expo will host a casual tournament to demonstrate gameplay and features for the very first time since its reveal. There will even be veteran Smash players on the tournament as well.

As Nintendo’s director of product marketing Bill Trinen told the Hollywood Reporter, “It’s an exciting way to showcase the new game with some of the best players in the world playing it.”

Though it’s not typical of veteran players from different Super Smash Bros. titles to play against each other, Trinen believes that in doing so in this case will “represent both sides of what is a very strong Smash Bros. community.” In addition to that, the executive revealed that the tournament will exhibit lots of gameplay features, characters, and items. Of course, they won’t be showing everything, since the release date is still a ways away. Nintendo still wants to maintain some semblance of surprise factor before its eventual debut. Trinen said:

The tournament is going to be designed to show quite a bit of the game in terms of modes, characters and items, but obviously we won’t show everything and we’re keeping a few surprises for later in the year.”

There isn’t confirmation as to whether this installment of Super Smash Bros. will be a port or an entirely new title. However, it’s highly unlikely that it will be a port, since silhouettes of characters from series never seen in the previous entries were found in the epic teaser trailer. Of course, classic characters will be making their return such as Mario, Princess Peach, Sheik, and many others. The reveal is just a weekend away! What are you most excited to see this year at E3 2018? Are you anticipating an all-new Smash title or a port?
