Super Mario Run Set For Release In December
“A new kind of Mario game that you can play with one hand,” Super Mario Run is set to release in December of this year for the iPhone and iPad. It has already gotten 20 million notification sign ups, and counting, through the App Store. That goes to show exactly how popular this game is going to be at launch and shows great potential for the mobile platformer.
In Super Mario Run, Mario runs (surprise!) through the levels using jumps that you control by tapping the screen with your finger. The timing of your taps on the screen will determine exactly what kind of moves Mario makes so you can “show off particularly smooth moves, gather coins, and reach the goal”. There are a total of three game modes to choose from.
- Complete challenging courses while collecting all the coins.
- Competing against other players to “impress” the Toads using the most “style”.
- Use the coins and “Toads” you collected from the first two to create your own Mushroom Kingdom.
Here is a sneak peek of the game:
Super Mario Run will be free to download. There is free content in the game, but there is more content that you can purchase if you’d like to. I bet Super Mario Run will bring in quite a bit of money for Nintendo if the notification signups are any indication, which is great considering the stock for Nintendo has gone down with the announcement of the Switch console.
This game sounds like a lot of fun to me! You can sign yourself up to receive a notification from the App Store to let you know exactly when the game is released. In case you haven’t heard the big news yet, the Nintendo Switch is finally here!
