The latest Super Bomberman R update for Nintendo Switch has brought a whole host of new features to the game. New game modes, some adjustments to gameplay, and new characters are all now part of the popular Nintendo title. Among the new characters are some recognizable if strange creatures added to the game that may surprise some fans.

The Super Bomberman R update has brought what is being called the “Grand Prix battle mode” to the game. This new way to play comes with some rules rolled out by Konami in their latest patch notes. Check out the rules from the Super Bomberman R update notes below:

  • The Grand Prix mode offers the following new features from normal battles.

  • Each battle is 2 rounds and the team with the most accumulated points wins.

  • Each character has different power-ups.

  • When you lose a life in the Grand Prix mode, you are resurrected after a certain time instead of turning into a Miso Bomb.

  • Soft blocks will start falling after a certain time has elapsed.

This new game mode comes with two different styles of play. The first mode dubbed “Crystal” pits players against each other collecting crystals in each stage. The second mode, “Basic Bomber”, is a simple battle against the opposing team kind of play where last team standing wins. Up to six can play in networked battles on the Nintendo Switch.

Finally, the Super Bomberman R update has brought 10 additional characters to the game, some of which may be immediately recognizable. As seen above new bombers include Castlevania’s Dracula, Ninja Goemon, Princess Tomato, Zone of the Enders’ Jehuty, Rumble Roses Reiko, The Nurse from Silent Hill and more!
