Word has been given that two new Disneyland theme parks have finally been given a set opening date, and it’s a lot closer than you think. After announcements of the upcoming theme parks were released to the public, fans have been clamoring for updates on Disney’s progress.

Star Wars Land, which had been officially announced at D23 back in 2015, has just been given a broad opening date sometime in 2019, according to Disney. According to developers, this 14-acre theme park, which will be opening at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be featuring a planet that is not too familiar to many casual fans, and will include characters of the same nature. This opens up a whole slew of exploratory possibilities for those Star Wars fans out there who want to delve a little deeper into the world George Lucas created!

Conversely, Disney’s other upcoming theme park, called The World of Avatar, will be based off of the alien moon Pandora from James Cameron’s 2009 film. This theme park will be opening on May 27th, 2017. The park will be featuring a plethora of bio-luminescent themed decorations, floating mountains and the alien inhabitants of the beautiful moon will also be present in the theme park. This park will have a much more familiar feel to those who went and saw the original film almost ten years ago. You can check out the announcement for the park’s official opening date here.

If Star Wars Land and The World of Avatar sound right up your alley, but you fear you might not get to experience the thrills of these parks in person, never fear! Both franchises have been hard at work dolling out updates on their respective films, with the Avatar director announcing that all scripts for subsequent films have been completed, and Star Wars Episode VIII receiving its official title. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be releasing this year on December 15th this year, but we have yet to hear about a set release date for Avatar 2.
