Upon opening, I was immediately impressed with the level of detailing for something in this particular price range. I’ve seen a lot of cheap imitations that are meant solely to be a child’s toy. Which is great, but not if you are looking for a certain level of realism.

This latest piece by Hasbro weighs about 2 and 1/5 pounds and is approximately 12.5 x 11 x 8.5 inches. The first thing I noticed were the subtly done cracks and indentions into the helmet itself to provide a realistic aesthetic and a notable amount of character to this piece. The material was finely crafted, despite the material used, and put together in a way that allows for an adjustment to the wearer’s head. Though the material is plastic and not a more pliable material, the thickness and characterization gives it an elevated feel above its cheaply made counterparts.

There is another aspect that sets this piece above the rest and that is the voice changing capabilities. The voice changing element is electronically done through a nose and mouth-piece. Personally, I bought this simply as a collector’s item and not for cosplay purposes but for a performance purpose, the voice changer does come out garbled and slightly unintelligible unless used uncomfortably close to the mouth. I flirted with different positions of the mouth-piece and only until it was almost directly in my mouth did I really feel like the quality was any good audio-wise.

Bottom line, this collector’s item is an amazing addition to any collection and any buyer would be pleasantly surprised with the level of individual detailing that each mask carries. Whether you are a collector, a cosplayer or looking to buy a present for the Star Wars lover in your life, the Star Wars: The Black Series Kylo Ren Voice Changer Helmet is a fantastic buy.
