Snow White: Disney’s Next Live Action Endeavor

Walt Disney Studios has been very busy as of late with the somewhat newly acquired Star Wars franchise, the Marvel franchise and their own branded film productions. One of their latest endeavors is to re-create some of their most beloved classic animated films into live action masterpieces. The most recent being Beauty and the Beast. Well it looks like the next project to be retold will be the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Disney

The original “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was released in 1937 as the first Disney animated feature film. It was a critical and commercial success and was re-released theatrically many times, until its home video release. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Variety reports that Disney Studios is currently negotiating with Erin Cressida Wilson, known for writing screenplays such as Men Women and Children, and The Girl on the Train, to write the script for the up coming musical. Disney Studios is also reaching out to songwriters Benj Pasek & Justin Paul to expand the musical repertoire for the live action re-make. Marc Platt is said to be producing the re-boot of Snow White.
