This week saw a huge flood of new video game news and announcements, as well as celebrity appearances at the annual Game Awards live event. While this year’s festivities had to be held digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was still full of wonderful surprise moments. Much of the big news from the night were the surprise announcements of big new games, such as a new Mass Effect game and a new title based on the Evil Dead series. One surprise announcement that went somewhat under the radar was the new game by Focus Home Interactive, Shady Part of Me, which surprisingly also released the same day.

As reported by GameInformer, Focus Home Interactive and Douze-Dixièmes revealed their new game Shady Part of Me during The Game Awards live event this past week. The puzzle adventure game follows a little girl trying to escape a nightmare world, with her only companion being her shadow. Players must traverse the world by controlling her and her shadow, with puzzles abound in both the girl’s world and the shadow world. Focus Home Interactive COO John Bert had this to say about their new partnership with Douze-Dixièmes:

Supporting the French indie game development scene has long been a part of the Focus DNA, and is an important aspect of our strategy. So it’s with great pleasure that we announce this new partnership. It was immediately apparent that the Douze-Dixièmes team shares our values, and we are more than excited to start a new adventure with such a talented team.”

Shady Part Of Me also features the voice talent of Hannah Murray, best known for her role as Gilly in Game of Thrones. Just as surprising as the game’s reveal at The Game Awards was the fact that the game was also made available that night on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game even has a 10% discount until Christmas Eve. Shady Part Of Me looks quite stunning and unique, and the perfect game to play at home while we wait in the shadows for 2021 to arrive.
