Samsung Is Launching A Massive 49-Inch High-Res Monitor
With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) just a week away, tech companies have already begun jumping the gun by announcing new products to generate hype in the days leading up to the yearly Las Vegas spectacle. One such announcement comes from the folks over at Samsung, who have unveiled an absolutely massive 49-inch monitor that will make you rethink not asking your family for a bigger, much wider desk for Christmas.
Announced over on Samsung’s official website, the all new CRG9 has a staggering resolution of 5120×1440, which makes it a dual QHD display. Samsung refers to the monitor as the “world’s first high-resolution super ultra-wide gaming monitor with 32:9 aspect ratio.” The sleek piece of technology sports a 120Hz refresh rate with a 4ms response time. One potential point of contention is the AMD Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR technology, which the Intel fanbase may turn their noses to.
Further down on the spec list, the CRG9 features HDR10 with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, which “delivers outstanding local dimming, and high-contrast HDR offers advanced spectacular highlights not available in non-HDR monitors.” It also features Samsung’s Quantum dot technology, which helps with pinpoint accurate color reproduction. In regards to connectivity, the CRG9 includes one HDMI port, two Display Ports, and USB 3.0 and headphone connectivity options. The retail price for the CRG9 is currently unknown, though we may know more by the time CES officially arrives next week.
