Rune: Ragnarok Gameplay Footage Shows Off The Game’s Gory Action (VIDEO)

Rune: Ragnarok Gameplay Footage

If you happen to be a fan of 2000’s hack-and-slash video game Rune, you may remember the developer announcing a follow-up last year. After releasing a cinematic trailer, fans couldn’t help but get excited to return to some good ol’ Viking hacking and slashing. Now that some new Rune: Ragnarok gameplay footage has been released, we have a closer look at some of the gory action that awaits players.

Before taking a gander at the video below, it’s important to note that the title is still in the alpha stage of development. However, we just can’t help but get excited with the progress they are making, especially when it comes to dismembering the enemy. Check out the gory Rune: Ragnarok gameplay footage for yourself below:

One aspect that can be taken away from the video above is the use of slow motion when attacks are reaching their climax. While this feature may be awesome to those interested in seeing just how they are dispatching foes, some fans were quick to point out the white flash that takes place at the point of impact. Needless to say, not many were a fan of it, with a few people even assuming Human Head Studios has something to hide with the flash.

The combat mechanics also appear to be reminiscent of Skyrim in third-person, when players are left to swing all willy-nilly at the enemy, hoping to match the enemies’ movements. This always makes for an interesting experience, especially when Vikings are involved. Rune: Ragnarok doesn’t currently have a set release date but beta testing is expected to begin later in the year.
