Red Dead Redemption 2 PC System Requirements And Enhancements Revealed

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC System Requirements Revealed

Following a year’s worth of widespread praise and the rolling out of an official online mode, Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally been confirmed for a PC release, putting an end to months of speculation on the part of curious fans. Exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since its 2018 launch, the Rockstar Games title has been an eagerly-awaited entry to the platform–if not for the preferred control method of mouse and keyboard, then for the ample enhancements that PC could bring to such an impressively-built experience.

Recently laid out by Rockstar, the new RDR2 port is aiming to take “full advantage of the power of the PC,” featuring an array of “new graphical and technical enhancements” to the epic western title such as improved day/night lighting, increased environmental details, higher-quality shadows, and more realistic textures. The updated port will also come with “HDR support, the ability to run high-end display setups with 4K resolution and beyond, multi-monitor configurations, widescreen configurations, faster frame rates and more.”

Even with such aspirations, Rockstar also assures the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 was “specifically developed to perform on a wide range of machines.” This is evident by the game’s newly-released system requirements, which provide a fair amount of wiggle room when the time comes to actually installing the game. What may not be quite as forgiving is the game’s file size, which stands at a hefty 150 GB. Though not as massive as some other games, such inflated storage may be a bit more understandable given the game’s wide-reaching open world and the assortment of aforementioned enhancements.
