Jade Raymond Welcomes Portal Designer Kim Swift to EA Motive Studios

Kim Swift - Jade Raymond

In the video game industry, turnover rates aren’t always that high. Typically, people will find a job they really enjoy with a company that treats them well, and see no reason to leave or seek better employment. However, there are cases where that next step will come along in the form of another studio. Recently, it was announced by EA Motive Studios’ Jade Raymond that Kim Swift will be joining the team as Design Director. Here is part of what Raymond had to say in her announcement:

Kim comes with an impressive resume that extends beyond her work at Valve. She’s been recognized in the Forbes’ “30 Under 30: Games & Apps” list, been named “one of the most recognized women in the industry” and been part of teams that brought home Game Developers Choice Awards for Best Game Design, Best Innovation, and Game of the Year. Despite all this success, it’s clear from Kim’s passion and talent that her greatest achievements still lie ahead.”

There is no denying that Kim Swift is right for the job. She has had her hand in helping create some of the most memorable games in recent history, including the Portal and Left 4 Dead franchises. Kim has also worked on Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, as well as Quantum Conundrum. We don’t know what Swift will be working on at EA Motive Studios, but it may have something to do with the fact that the studio has spent the better part of the past year “building a team of amazingly talented people to work on our new IP and Star Wars™ projects.”

One such project that already has buzz surrounding it is the Star Wars game that is not due out until 2018. The reason this game will be on everyone’s radar is not just because it will be a new Star Wars title, but it is being written by Amy Hennig. For those of you not in the know, Hennig is the writer and director of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted seriesJade Raymond, Kim Swift, and Amy Hennig all possibly working on the same project? Count us in! Plus, Kim seems pretty excited, as well:

We wish Swift the best of luck in her new role and know she is going to keep kicking some major ass in the video game industry! What say you, gamers? Are you excited to see what comes out of EA Motive Studios now that Kim Swift is part of the team? What do you anticipate her next project to be? Let us know in the comments section below! Before you go doing that, however, you should definitely check this out. A new DLC is coming to Battlefield 1 and a trailer has been released for it.
