For fans of Limbo, it seemed like an eternity, even if only six years, for Inside to come out. Developer Playdead took their time and when it was released last summer, fans rejoiced. Another critically acclaimed game under their belt. With there only having been a few months between Inside and now, reading that Playdead is teasing a new game may be surprising.

The post came out on twitter yesterday a simple image really, but an image says a thousand words. As seen below, an unknown character stands atop what appears to be a mountain, watching an object burn through the atmosphere. Is this a new planet? Who is that on the mountain? There are no details available as of yet, no title or other information. Simply this image and tweet.

Developer Playdead seems excited for the way fans reacted to Inside. It is of little surprise considering how good the game was. This time around, they aren’t wasting any time working on the latest game, which is likely a relief to fans.

The image itself does give us a few clues. Firstly, that this game may likely be a completely 3D game, where as Limbo and Inside were 2D side-on style games, even though Inside was much more graphically 3D. It looks possible that this person is a pilot or astronaut and they’re dragging a parachute or something similar behind them. In the end, this may just be concept art that leaves more to the imagination than confirmation of anything concrete.

Overall, the tone seems at least similar to past games, both atmospheric and dark. While much is left to speculation, one thing is for certain: there is a lot more to come from developer Playdead as they continue to work on this game. Whatever it is.
