Ratchet & Clank Animated Special Stealth-Releases On Streaming
With a new-gen release readying on the PlayStation 5, the Ratchet & Clank series is most definitely seeing renewed popularity, especially as the new Rift Apart touts some of the most unique and exciting gameplay in the long-running platform-shooter series. With a launch recently dated for later this year, a new Ratchet & Clank animated special has arrived to advertise the upcoming release. However, it appears the cartoon has surprisingly dropped in a decidedly low-key fashion.
Get your OmniWrenches ready! The all-new animated special Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is now airing on Crave in Canada!

Releasing over the past weekend, a special titled Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie officially began streaming on Canadian-based streaming service Crave TV, seemingly arriving with little-to-no notice beforehand. As the toon isn’t viewable here in the States – not legally anyways – Life of Pie’s listing suggests the production is a particularly high-quality one, with Mainframe, the studio behind the 2016 Ratchet & Clank movie, and much of the traditional game voice cast returning to craft the 23-minute episode. As per the synopsis:
While on an inter-galactic pizza run, Ratchet and Clank discover that the diabolical Dr. Nefarious has developed an interdimensional portal device that would allow him to rule the entire multiverse! The intrepid duo spring into action, liberating the ‘Portalizer’ from Dr. Nefarious and then racing off to securely lock it away in a weapons museum. But along the way, they run into bumbling Captain Qwark, who uses the weapon to accidentally unleash a sentient-pizza-topping mob upon the citizens of Galactic City. It’s up to Ratchet and Clank to battle the savory horde and keep the Portalizer out of Dr. Nefarious’ evil hands before he uses it to destroy the galaxy!”
It’s currently unknown how this new Ratchet & Clank animation managed to secure such a limited release or when/if fans may be able to expect it in other regions. While everyone will likely stay baffled in the meantime, it might also be best not to read too much into this new special either. According to a social media post from Mainframe, Life of Pie was never meant to be a new TV show pilot or a tease for a new unannounced movie – only a one-off special.
Sorry, nope! It’s a one-off special. But if everyone loves it, ask Sony for more and maybe we can make more of them!
