Project 007 Announced By Hitman Developer (VIDEO)

Project 007 James Bond

Known for crafting the excellent soon-to-be Hitman trilogy, developer IO Interactive has been pretty busy as of late readying for the next adventure of Agent 47 and transitioning to the new-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, it now appears the studio has actually been a bit busier than originally thought, as they have now announced a new game based on the James Bond franchise called Project 007.

Revealed on the developer’s official website, IO Interactive touts the new game as “featuring a wholly original Bond story” that will allow players to “step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story.” Announced with a mysterious new trailer, the footage depicts the interior of a gun loaded with a bullet, cleverly transitioning into Jame Bond’s signature gun barrel sequence from the movies. We also get a look at the logo for Project 007, which currently referred to as a “working title” for the time being. Check it out below.

Considering the covert and often cinematic assassination antics featured in the Hitman games, IO Interactive seems to be a perfect studio to helm a James bond game. The announcement of Project 007 itself presents a welcome surprise in itself as IO had only teased the venture up until now, finally spilling the beans in a reveal event taking place this morning. The famous MI6 agent is no stranger to the video game realm, having been the star of dozens of titles over the decades, with the most recent one releasing back in 2012 with the Daniel Craig-led 007 Legends. Considering the game’s placement as an origin story, it’s currently unknown if Craig might reprise his role or if a new actor might take up the mantle.
