The Pro Battles Commence – Play Tekken 7 Before Release at Battle Arena Melbourne 9 (VIDEO)

Returning for the 9th time is Australia’s largest fighting game major, Battle Arena Melbourne (BAM) is back for another round of intense battle for competitive gamers. The event will take place in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre May 12th through the 14th and will feature Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and Super Smash Bros as main events. Other tournaments will also be held across BAM’s five stages. The main events include:

Battle Arena Melbourne’s Street Fighter V tournament will feature a cool 15,064 USD cash prize pool, courtesy of Capcom and Twitch. The tournament will also act as a Global Premier Event for the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour. Winners of the tournament will be awarded with a substantial amount of points towards their place on the Global Capcom Pro Tour leaderboards. You’ll want to keep an eye out for confirmed international pros for the event such as Japan’s Daigo Umehara- The Beast, Korea’s Lee Seon-woo- Infiltration, and Singapore’s Kun Xian Ho – Xian. The second of the largest events will be the Super Smash Bros tournaments, which will be featured across two different stages dedicated to Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Smash Bros for Wii U as well as Brawl and the original Smash Bros.

Fans of Tekken 7 will be happy to know that you’ll have an opportunity to play the final build of the game while at BAM. All attendees may enter the Tekken 7 casual play area for free over the course of the event as well as join in on the “New Challengers” tournament on May 12th. There will be various other tournaments scattered throughout the 5 stages set in the event and will include games like Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, Street Fighter Turbo II, Rivals of Aether, and more. There will be artists, cosplay, and vendor booths all present as well as special events held throughout the weekend.

You can purchase tickets for Battle Arena Melbourne at $10 per tournament (or as listed), venue entry at $50, pre-registration or $60 late/on the day registration, and spectate $20 for the weekend.
