Outriders Worldslayer Expansion Announced – New Enemies, Progression, And More
Since launching and doling out a nifty New Horizon update last year, Square Enix and People Can Fly’s Outriders have been largely quiet working on a new expansion, aiming to inject a bevy of new content into the open-world alien shooter. After several months, the dev team has now officially unveiled Worldslayer, a hefty new expansion aiming to bolster the title with new enemies, loot, progression, and a story campaign.
Revealed as part of a recent global reveal event, Worldslayer is characterized by the arrival of a fearsome vixen by the name of Ereshkigal, a dark Altered overlord of the human insurgency with some dastardly plans in store for the game’s setting of Enoch. In addition to this new threat, Outriders will also see the unstable realm hit with intense cold and blizzards, freezing over the land and making way for new enemy types as well as variants of older ones.
With these new battle opportunities, Worldslayer will offer a new progression system called Ascension, which focuses on boosting endurance, brutality, prowess as well as one’s Anomaly power. The expansion is also teased to put forth hundreds of fresh loot, armor, mods, and weapons to customize one’s Outrider, as well as the new Apocalypse tier difficulty, which unlocks new gear with an added third mod slot. In addition, new PAX Trees and two new subclasses are set to be brought to each class.
While only name-dropped in the broadcast, Worldslayer’s new endgame, The Rial of Tarya Gratar, is set to get a new showcase in the coming weeks. As of now, the Outriders expansion is expected to release on June 30th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia. Pre-orders are open on all platforms and enable players to access the game 2 full days early. Focusing on new and returning audiences, Worldslayer is offered as a full bundle ($59.99 USD) and as an upgrade ($39.99 USD) to the original game.
What do you think? Are you excited to slay in the new Worldslayer expansion, or have you yet to reach the end of the original Outriders? Are you low-key crushing on Ereshkigal’s goth-rock look as much as we are?
