Homeland Actor Numan Acar Cast for Villainous Role in Disney Aladdin Film
Numan Acar, known for his roles in such series as Homeland (2014) and Prison Break (2017) was recently cast for a role in Disney’s Aladdin live-action film. Alongside the role of Jafar played by actor Marwan Kenzari, Acar will take on the part as one of the villain’s evil henchmen and right-hand man Hakim. In the 1992 animated production, there were three side-kicks who assisted in Jafar’s nefarious plans and also one of the many comic reliefs, so there is the possibility of more news on them as showrunners continue to search for talent.
Other confirmed roles for the Aladdin live-action remake have been Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Aladdin (Mena Massoud), and Genie (Will Smith). According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new part will be added to the film for Saturday Night Live comedian Nasim Pedrad as Mara, friend and handmaiden to Jasmine as a “supporting comedic role”.
Guy Ritchie will be heading the film as director from a screenplay created by John August (Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie). The production team consists of professionals such as Kevin De La Noy (The Dark Knight, Now You See Me 2), Jonathan Eirich (Death Note), Max Keene (World War Z, Prometheus), and Dan Lin (The Lego Ninjago Movie, Sherlock Holmes).
