Nintendo Announces New ‘RingFit Adventure’ Fitness-based RPG (VIDEO)
Last week, Nintendo uploaded a trailer to their YouTube channel showing off a peripheral-based “new experience” for Nintendo Switch. The video showed players playing an unseen game using a steering wheel-like peripheral with one joy-con attached to it, as well as a leg strap that held another Joy-Con.
Many people’s first thought was that Nintendo would be developing another Fitness-style game for the Switch, similar to the massively popular Wii Fit for the Wii. Those folks got half of it right. Nintendo’s “new experience” is indeed Fitness-based, however it is unlike any Fitness game that’s ever come before it. Check out the trailer for Fitness/RPG hybrid RingFit Adventure below:

Right off the bat, RingFit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch seems bold. Everything from Player movement to prepping attacks and traversing obstacles involves some kind of exercise or stretch. Players will gain XP, have multiple areas and combat encounters to overcome, and obstacles to traverse. Combat moves are broken out into specific exercises and how well your form is through each rep will determine how much damage an attack does. It’s quite a unique take on turn-based RPG combat that might just make a few fitness enthusiasts out of gamers. Did we mention that the main bad guy is a bodybuilding dragon?
Apart from the main Adventure mode, players can engage in traditional exercise routines and engage in mini-game challenges if they want to get a complete workout in a shorter timeframe. RingFit Adventure will be available on October 18th, Pre-Orders will be upcoming in the near future.
