Kingdom Building and New System Teased for Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom

Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom

With Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch, a lot was to be taken from the RPG experience. With an aesthetic that felt like a Studio Ghibli production fans were immersed in a world that was rife with fantasy elements. Even though the animation studio will not be working with Level-5 on Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom, the game looks to be following suit.

Speaking in an interview with Famitsu, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino was able to give fans some details of what they can expect in Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom. Hino touched on a new system they are developing for the game in regards to building kingdoms. Here is what Hino had to say on kingdom building:

“A new system that is precisely for the kingdom building will appear. Players will get to decide on what kind of kingdoms they’ll make,so they’ll get to enjoy having their own kingdoms that are different from other players.”

Players will be able to construct kingdoms by ‘placing staff’, a method that will not allow players direct control of construction, but will allow for each kingdom to be unique to the player.  Beyond kingdom construction the CEO also teased another system in the game that had to do with maps, while there were little details here is what Hino had to say:

“Again this is a different element from the kingdom building, but the field maps are being drawn in diorama-like fashion, and there’s a very big secret to it that involves one other major new system. I can’t say more about it, but this single system alone is enough to make you want to make a game around it, and it’s a highly anticipated system for us.”

It seems as if, for now, Level-5 isn’t ready to spill all of the details of the game. With the game still in development, only 45% done and not ready to launch until later this year, it is to be expected that the studio would like to keep the details a surprise for when players get the game in hand. Until then fans can anticipate Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom to release on PS4 and PC sometime this year.
