Next Pokemon Sun & Moon Global Mission Begins Tomorrow + How to Participate (VIDEO)

Pokémon Sun & Moon‘s first Global Mission wasn’t the most successful, at least, in sheer measure of numbers. Earlier this month, Trainers were implored to catch or Island Scan 100 million Pokémon within a span of 2 weeks. These quests aren’t called global for nothing. They certainly need the man-power of people worldwide to be completed. However, one-hundred million is a steep number, even taking into consideration the amount of fans there are in the world. That is, if that many Trainers decide to participate.

Can you take a guess as to the actual number achieved? It was just about 16.5 million – 16,423,231 to be exact. Ouch. Let’s just hope they use the first event as a gauge for the future. Not all is a loss, though. Those who participated, received a prize of 100 Festival Coins. If the goal was met, 1000 coins would have been presented instead.

Now, the next global event has been announced for Pokemon Sun & Moon, with a more reasonable goal this time. Between Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 until Saturday, January 9th, 2017 – Trainers have to Island Scan or capture 1 million Pokémon.

At this point, you might be thinking, “What’s Island Scan?” It’s a new feature in Sun & Moon, only usable after the trainer has earned 100 points from scanning in-game QR codes. By using Island Scan, trainers can capture Pokémon outside the Alola region. Pretty sweet. Check out the super informational video by AbdallahSmash026 above for more detailed information.

Want to know how to partake in the Global Missions? Take a gander below:

  1. Enter Festival Plaza in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon by selecting it in your in-game menu, which you’ll find by pressing the X Button.
  2. Enter Festival Plaza’s central castle.
  3. Speak to the global mission receptionist on the right and let her know you want to participate in the global mission.
  4. Remember to return before the mission ends to sync your game to add to the global count! Once you are participating in the global mission, talk to the receptionist to have your progress sent to the server.
  5. Also, if you have registered your game to a PGL account, simply connecting to the Internet while in Festival Plaza will cause your game to sync automatically, which will send your progress to the server.

If you’re curious about your progress during the missions, check in with the receptionist every so often and she’ll tell you.

So, will you be participating in the Global Missions, Trainers? What do you think about the huge lapse in numbers from the first event? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below. We would love to hear from you!
