New Live-Action Sonic Movie Design Leaks, Fans Are Loving It
After featuring in films like Wreck-It Ralph and Ready Player One, Sonic the Hedgehog is finally getting his own big-screen outing in only a few months’ time. Boasting the comedy talents of Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz, the Paramount production was largely overshadowed by the Blue Blur’s live-action appearance–which fans likened to a horror adaptation rather than the classic SEGA mascot. Following such poor reception, Paramount and Blur Studio opted to take the Sonic movie design back to the drawing board, hoping to please fans with a more traditional appearance.
By the looks of some newly-discovered images, the Sonic movie appears to have done exactly that. Acquired from “a friend in Paramount Studios,” Twitter user ‘BestInTheGalaxy’ has seemingly leaked a fresh look at the speedster’s new design, ditching the more “realistic” and human-like proportions of the previous incarnation for a more cartoonish version in-line with the video games. Sonic looks to have received larger eyes, a much bluer color scheme, as well as a prominent pair of gloves and shoes to better capture the hedgehog’s iconic look.

As one might expect, the internet has been singing the praises of Sonic’s alleged new look over the last day, with many comparing the design favorably against the creature featured in the first trailer. Twitter was especially alight about the design and while many were curious about the images’ legitimacy, they nonetheless inspired no shortage of humorous memes, fan theories, and good old-fashioned expressions of excitement.

Sonic Movie Trailer 2 Prediction:
Clips from the first trailer will be shown at the beginning and it will cut to Sonic waking up with his redesign saying “whew, what a horrible nightmare! Thank God that never happened.”

As of now, it’s not known whether these images are in-fact part of Paramount’s new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The leak certainly looks the part and would provide a nice wave of support for an otherwise hype-lacking project. With a finalized design out in the open, fans are expecting an announcement to come from Paramount relatively soon, especially with the Sonic movie set to release early next year. Regardless of where fans lie, the people involved are definitely excited about the film, as evident by a recent post by Sonic voice actor Ben Schwartz.
