Elex

THQ Nordic’s freshly announced open world sandbox sci-fi fantasy RPG (that was a mouthful) now has its very first gameplay trailer to entice future fans to get their hands on Elex. The game is being developed by the studio responsible for Risen and Gothic, Piranha Bytes, and according to the game’s website:

“ELEX is a handcrafted action role-playing experience from the award-winning creators of the Gothic series, set in a brand new post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe that puts players into a huge, seamless game world full of original characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and powerful action.”

Set in the large world of Magalan that has been devastated by a meteor strike, the player controls a former “Alb” which was once a tribe of people who would absorb life force in order to become stronger and dampen their emotions. Magalan is made up of 5 different regions that are completely free to explore from the start. You can see some of the different terrains and creatures of Magalan in the Elex gameplay trailer below:

In the game, players will fight magic wielding enemies, attack drones, and mutated beasts. They will also have to make hard moral choices as they go that will either save the regions or destroy them at will. Elex is set for release in October of this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. There will also be a special collector’s edition of the title and it will include the game’s soundtrack, an art book, a combat drone amulet, a cloth map of the game’s world Magalan, and a 10 inch figure of an Alb Mage costing $119.99 for console and $109.99 on PC.
