New Original Xbox Easter Egg Discovered After 20 Years
Throughout the history of gaming, developers have been hiding easter eggs within their content for players to find. Featuring content ranging from simple nods to full-on recreations of pop culture, developers have even been known to leave behind unique references that can only be found through a series of specific steps. As it turns out, the original Xbox console has had quite a few easter eggs and while many have been found, apparently there are still some that haven’t been found after all this time. A new easter egg has been revealed concerning the retro console, leading players on a hunt to uncover some otherwise unobtainable content.
A recent discussion with an anonymous Microsoft developer reveals that another easter egg exists within the original Xbox. After first going to the Music section of the Dashboard, inserting a CD and copying it twice from the CD screen, creating a “new soundtrack” and naming it “Timmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!” (26 y’s) unlocks a new item in the console’s settings. Heading to the System Info page in the Settings menu, users will find a new entry for the “Xbox Dashboard Team” that wasn’t originally there, listing all the team responsible for creating the console’s iconic UI. A video of the easter egg can be viewed below, via Kotaku.
Similarly to this new easter egg, the discovery actually piggybacks off a previously-discovered “main” secret also involving the console’s Music section on the Dashboard, where, after going through the above steps and naming a soundtrack “<<Eggsβox>>,” the screen displays a full credits reel before restarting the console. It’s interesting to see there’s still more to discover with the original Xbox console, and who’s to say what easter eggs will be uncovered next? A supposed secret was teased by Seamus Blackley all the way back in 2017, though it’s unknown whether he was referring to the “Timmy” easter egg, or perhaps fans have yet to discover what it actually is.
Yes. An there’s an Easter egg than nobody has noticed as far as I can tell.
