Starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher is expected to premiere later this year. From the look of these set photos, it seems The Witcher is looking to fill the void in fantasy television shows once held by Game of Thrones. Fans of both the game and The Witcher novel series are discussing the photos on Reddit here.
The top left photo is the only behind-the-camera shot of the four. On the top right, we see Geralt squaring off against some armor-clad guards who look to be wearing leftover GoT costumes. The bottom left photo shows Ciri alone in the woods. This photo has Witcher fans discussing if the Netflix series will mirror the novels. Lastly, on the bottom right we have an action shot from a battle.
Personally, all these gray-heavy overcast weather and guys in matching armor stills remind me a lot of Game of Thrones. How this series will differ I’m sure will become apparent after its release.
