Metro Exodus Release Delayed Until Next Year, Developer Responds

Metro Exodus Release

The upcoming entry to the Metro series, Metro Exodus, was a big highlight of E3 2017, having presented an experience boasting loads of bold changes to the post-apocalyptic series’ conventions. The gorgeous visual update and welcome change of scenery were enough to get many fans excited for the survival game’s tentative release in 2018, but now it looks like we’re in for another cold winter of waiting before we’ll see the Metro Exodus release at the end of the tunnel.

Announced by developer Deep Silver, Exodus has now been officially delayed until Q1 2019. Citing the game’s ambitious scale and detail, the dev team felt the extended time was necessary to round out the “absolute best” Metro experience yet. Acknowledging the inevitable disappointment from fans, some “never before seen” gameplay was confirmed to be making an appearance at this year’s E3.

While this news does mean more time waiting to traverse the devastatingly harsh Russian wilderness, it ultimately seems like it’ll be worth the wait considering the game’s scale is big enough to need a dedicated train to get around. With E3 2018 quickly coming up in June and (finally) more gameplay on the way, it’s tough not to be excited. Metro Exodus set to release in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
