Mario Kart 64 Now Available on Wii U Virtual Console
Retro gamers rejoice! The classic racing game Mario Kart 64 is now available on the Wii U! Those wanting to relive memories of instantaneous defeat via that damned blue shell, can pick it up from Nintendo’s Virtual Console for $9.99.
Gaming purists may be turned off due to the port’s missing ability to save ghost data, a popular feature from the original game. The problem may have something to do with the Wii U being unable to emulate the Nintendo 64’s Controller Pak, as the original required the memory expansion to store game data. This was the case with the original Wii’s version of Mario Kart 64.
Those who don’t care about such things can gather up their closest friends / future enemies and play Mario Kart 64. Or not. Whatever.
Are you going to pick up the game for the Wii U? Did you ever play the original N64 version? Are you waiting for the unnamed Mario game from the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer instead? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to cruise over to these other Mario-related articles!
