Major Amazon Prime Policy Change Leaves Gamers Frustrated with Membership

Amazon Prime Change

Being a Prime subscriber comes with plenty of perks. Free shipping, a streaming service, and even special discounts are all included in the online retailer’s subscription package. Special discounts often attract specific users to the service for the benefit, however, a major Amazon Prime change has cut out one such discount that may be leaving some users questioning their reason for having the subscription.

The Amazon Prime change has removed the 20 percent discount from games the day after release instead of the standard two weeks after release. Moving forward, subscribers will only be able to get the offer on pre-orders and release day purchases. With the discount reaching its second year of existence, users may be questioning why they’ve decided to remove the price drop.

Amazon Prime Change

For those who have to take care in how they spend their money, some people wait until a game is released and had play time to read reviews and hear feedback before deciding if a new title is worth it to them. Having two weeks to decide allowed for some gamers to choose if it was worth parting with their money for the experience. Now, with the Amazon Prime change, those users will have to decide much earlier if the game deserves the cash if they want that discount.

The implications on subscribers and Amazon have yet to be discovered, but many twitter users are already saying they’ll cut ties with the company’s service. Many say they’ll move onto Best Buy’s Gamers Club Unlocked, a service that also offers discounts and other benefits to gamers. Ultimately those who only used prime for the gaming benefit may find this change enough to refrain from renewing their service.

Is this Amazon Prime change a bad move on the retailer’s part, or is there something bigger at play? Join in on the conversation in the comment section below! Don’t forget to follow DFTG on Twitter for live gaming and entertainment news 24/7!
