For all of you Disney nerds out there, the resurgence of our old favorite animated features becoming live-action films is something to be excited about. Disney is now preparing to make a live-action Aladdin movie and it is much more exciting than it is surprising. What is particularly excellent about this next film is that Disney is holding open casting calls for the parts of Aladdin and Jasmine.

The casting call for the live-action Aladdin film is requesting Middle Eastern actors between the ages of 18-25 as confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter. They must be able to sing, and dancing is a plus. All anyone needs is a photo and video of them singing to audition for either role. The notice was posted yesterday on Twitter:

This announcement comes on the heels of a similar casting call for the live-action Mulan film in which they were searching for people who were fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. What is important to note is that Disney is seeking fresh talent for their films, and to fill the roles with characters who are accurate to their depicted origin. This is certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity for new faces to portray some of the most popular characters in the Disney universe.

Disney’s live-action Aladdin movie is being directed by Guy Ritchie, with a screenplay by writer John August (Big Fish). Filming is expected to begin in the UK from July 2017 to January 2018. While filming is still a few months off, rehearsals are just a month away, so time is of the essence in getting those auditions in!
