New Injustice 2 Story Trailer “Shattered Alliances Part 2” Reveals More Characters (VIDEO)
Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios said that the upcoming DC Comics based fighter Injustice 2 will have the largest lineup of DC characters than ever seen before. A new story trailer titled Shattered Alliances Part 2 proves Boon’s claim as new characters are revealed. Check out the action-packed trailer below and see if you spot any new faces:
Injustice 2’s story will take place after the events of the first game. In the above trailer we see an imprisoned Kal-El (aka Superman, aka Clark Kent) as Bruce Wayne (SPOILER ALERT: he’s Batman) appears to be addressing government officials about how dangerous Superman has become.
He couldn’t see his good intentions were leading him down a path of tyranny and evil. That’s how our greatest hero became our greatest threat.”
As the trailer continues, we see Bruce Wayne talking to one of his most trusted advisers, Lucius Fox, who tells Bruce that he needs to widen his circle of friends. The following shot is that of Bruce, Black Canary, and Green Arrow. This, of course, is the first character to be revealed in the new trailer. Green Arrow is sporting a much different costume than he wore in the first Injustice game, and closely resembles the one wore on the TV series Smallville.
The next revealed character is Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. Although both Hal Jordan’s and John Stewart’s Green Lanterns were already confirmed through bonus content on the digital and ultimate editions of the game, Shattered Alliances Part 2 marks the first official appearance of either character. If fans of the first game recall, Hal was on Superman’s side of the Regime the last time we saw him. He claims that he has changed and was put through hell to get his Green Lantern ring back, making the argument that he is once again trustworthy.
As the trailer continues, we get a quick scene of Flash racing and rumbling with his arch-nemesis, Reverse Flash. This could mean that Flash’s greatest enemy will be playable, or more than likely, a skin for Flash that uses the same move set. Either way, it’s still awesome to watch the two race each other through rush hour traffic and beating the snot out of one another.
The final reveal happens so fast that if you blinked, you probably missed it. After the battle between Flash and Reverse Flash, there is a scene with Gorilla Grodd, who seems to be rallying an army. On the stage with him is Bane, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Cheetah, and Leonard Snart, better known as Captain Cold. If you’ve ever played a NetherRealms game, then you know the importance of having a character that can freeze their opponents. In the first Injustice, this role belonged to Killer Frost. It seems that Snart may be replacing her as the “Sub Zero” of the game.
Injustice 2 is due out May 16, 2017 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. What do you think of the newest character reveals? What else did you notice in Shattered Alliances Part 2?
