Little Nightmares TV Adaptation in the Works, Nightmare Before Christmas Director to Head Episodes
The producers behind Captain America: Civil War and Winter Soldier will be starting a new project with a Little Nightmares TV adaptation in collaboration with the director of A Nightmare Before Christmas – Henry Selnick. While Anthony and Joe Russo will be the executive producers behind the series, joining the team will be Samuel Gatte, Mike Larocca, and Dan Jevons.
For those unfamiliar with the video game title Little Nightmares, this horror adventure game follows a young girl named Six. She must escape the eerie and dangerous environments within the Maw, filled with monstrous creatures seeking out their next meal. A chilling and well-crafted atmosphere adds to the suspense and anticipation of the hazards around each corner. The world is large in comparison to Six and requires maneuvering obstacles, solving puzzles, and outsmarting nightmarish creatures trying to kill you.
The partnership between publisher Bandai Namco and the Russo brothers were established before Little Nightmares’ release in April. Both stakeholders have been in discussion since then, but it has now been made official via an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter. Knowing the direction that Selnick can bring in film such as Coraline (2009), there’s no doubting that the atmosphere within the game will be captured with ease and accuracy. Based on the current information, Selnick is anticipated to direct the pilot episode, but the status of subsequent episodes are to be determined.
