Life is Strange: Before the Storm Soundtrack Sets the Mood With Indie Band ‘Daughter’ (VIDEO)
For those that played the first title in the Life is Strange franchise, a nifty soundtrack is nothing new. One thing that reviewers and fans around the world could agree on is that the tunes that played an intricate part of the narrative played a huge part in the overall feeling this title gave its players. It’s no surprise that the prequel, Before the Storm, should follow suit with their own amazing soundtrack.
In a new video, the indie band that is taking the lead on the latest music stylings goes into why exactly the music choices matter and how they can affect the way a story is perceived. The band itself is an indie group by the name of Daughter, here’s what they had to say:
We loved the story on first read as it centers around realistic female lead characters who are emotional, intelligent, sensitive and badass in equal measure. I think the characters themselves have really inspired the soundscapes we have created.”
The first game was an episodic title that ended up being a ride that was unforgettable. The choices at times were gut wrenching while proposing a unique tale surrounding Max and Chloe. During the first game, the relationship between Chloe and Rachel frequently made an appearence in the narrative and the prequel serves as a way for players to see that relationship first hand. Though it will only be 3 episodes, notably shorter than the first game, the team made it very clear that the decision was made because the story was told adequately during that time frame. Once again, choices matter and it is up to the player to decide what exactly Rachel meant to Chloe.
Music From Before The Storm, the sountrack for the prequel, will be released on September 1st. Not only will it house all of the musical tracks found in-game, but it will also include a few bonus tracks from Daughter. The first episode, Awake, for Life is Strange: Before the Storm releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 31st.
