Life is Strange, a critically-acclaimed and award-winning video game, is receiving its very own digital series. Legendary Digital Studios announced their collaboration with Square Enix, DONTNOD, and dj2 not long ago. To celebrate this endeavor, they released the very first episode of the game for free – across all major platforms. This includes PlayStation 3 & 4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One, Mac, and PC. ‘Chrysalis’ will get you hooked, and help new players understand why the series has been given so much recognition. Acknowledged in its story-telling ability, the gameplay and the level of feels lends itself to the entire experience.

Greg Siegel, Senior Vice President of Development and Production for Legendary Digital Studios, isn’t afraid to show his excitement for this new project. “Life is Strange is one of those rare properties that combines incredibly developed characters and storylines with deeply engaging gameplay. It lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings,” he mentioned in a press release. Siegal continued,

We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Square Enix, DONTNOD Entertainment and dj2 to bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life in an exciting new way.”

Of course, some creative liberties will be taken, according to the studio, even if it is a collaborative effort. To elaborate on it further, the teams hope to create and “realize a new version” of the game. The nitty-gritty details haven’t been revealed. Whether the digital series will be a live-action one, or a remastered and more fluid story-telling of Max Caulfield’s story. It may serve as a challenge, given the main protagonist’s ability to rewind time.
