There’s a Real-Life Anteiku Cafe for Tokyo Ghoul Fans for July Only – Squee With Me!

I’ll admit it … I’m a binge watching anime fan that gets lost in season and season of delicious animated goodness. More often than not, people can catch me with a manga in my hands and a smile on my face. So if anyone is with me, let’s pack our bags and head to Japan because there is an IRL Anteiku Cafe that is opening up for fans of the gory Tokyo Ghoul series!

If you’re unfamiliar with what Tokyo Ghoul even is, it’s a gory – and at times terrifying – horror manga series that centers around the battle between humans and ghouls. The ghouls look human in appearance, with a few minor exceptions, and are hunted by a human organization with some major secrets of their own called the CCG. In the anime and manga series, the Anteiku Cafe is a safe haven ran by ghouls for ghouls under the guise of a normal, every day human coffee shop. And of course, our darling protagonist Kaneki works there after a tragic event left him as a hybrid: half ghoul, half human.

Whether you are #TeamGhoul or #TeamCCG, all are welcome at the brand new Anteiku cafe for the entire month of July at JR Shibuya Station in Tokyo! The cafe itself will be opening up specifically to promote the live-action film that will be premiering July 3rd at the Los Angeles, CA Anime Expo, July 7th in Berlin, and July 10th in Chiyoda, Japan. For the rest of the world, the film will be making its world-wide debut on July 29th. Thanks to Funimation, North American audiences will also be able to enjoy this live-action adaptation with an English subbed version.

Just like any coffee shop, the IRL Anteiku Cafe will house a wide variety of coffees and other drinks for its patrons to enjoy, as well as the normal food items served such as sandwiches and pastries. Not only can fans look forward to delicious food and beverages, but the cafe will also house props and costumes from the anime for the full experience!
