Hogwarts Legacy Revealed As Open World Harry Potter RPG (VIDEO)

Hogwarts Legacy Harry Potter RPG

For nearly two years now, fans have known about an all-but-confirmed Harry Potter-themed RPG in the works by Just Cause 4 and RAGE 2 developer Avalanche Studios. With a very early gameplay leak and continued insistence from inside sources, the game’s inevitable announcement has been expected for a while, even as WB Games has remained quiet about the project over the last many months. With all that said, it appears the imminent arrival of next-gen has finally unveiled Avalanche’s upcoming title as the open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy.

Showcased during Sony’s latest PS5 event, fans were given a peek at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry set in the 1800s, with players inhabiting the role of a student that “holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.” In terms of gameplay, the footage teases quite a few activities one might expect from a Harry Potter RPG, including exploring the expansive campus grounds, learning magical abilities, and encountering various fantastic beasts. Check it out below alongside an official synopsis via the WB website.

You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic. Discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.”

Hogwarts Legacy is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2021.
