‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Epic Movie’ Writers Tackling an Incredibly Named Star Wars Parody

Star Wars Parody

For as long as there have been big blockbuster movies, there have also been parodies of those same films. Through the years, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have been writing parodies for some of the most iconic pop culture movies. They’ve written such films as Scary Movie, Vampires Suck, The Starving Games, and Epic Movie. Now, the duo has teamed up to take on the dangerous task of writing a Star Wars parody. The title of their new movie will be Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens the Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seltzer and Friedberg will write and direct the film that will spoof the most well know franchise in the world. Production is expected to begin this fall, with no release date yet announced. The film will be produced by Covert Media’s CEO, Paul Hanson as well as Todd Garner of Broken Roads Productions. In a statement regarding Star Worlds, Hanson said:

“Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into what audiences love. Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world’s most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away.”

Spaceballs

The two writers are definitely not the first ones to poke fun at the series. The most successful Star Wars parody would have to be none other than Mel Brooks’ Spaceballswhich is a favorite even among Star Wars fans. Friedberg and and Seltzer will have to tread carefully as they enter this realm of pop culture. These are the most loyal fans. If we take a look at their previous spoofs, we can expect a metric ton of ridiculousness in the upcoming film.
