Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Window Teased By Former Rockstar Dev
With the last Rockstar Games title having released over a year ago and the last Grand Theft Auto game releasing years before that, GTA fans are eager to see a return to the series known for its criminal mayhem. With a new game console generation looming, many have theorized and embraced rumors pointing to a new Grand Theft Auto game coming this year. These rumors have gone on to suggest that the new game could see a return to Vice City and feature a female protagonist. Now, one former Rockstar developer has hinted at what the Grand Theft Auto 6 release window might be, given his experience with the mega-company that is Rockstar Games.
As reported on Prima Games, former Rockstar Games producer Darion Lowenstein spoke with equity research firm Jeffries regarding the video game industry, as it would be of concern to potential investors. A press release (via DailyStar) has detailed the information disclosed during their conversation, with Lowenstein estimating a Grand Theft Auto 6 release date could happen in Holiday 2021 at the absolute soonest.
“As a former Rockstar employee, Darion noted that the Houser brothers place all their emphasis on game quality rather than hitting a deadline. His absolute best-case-scenario for a game release is Holiday 2021, though he does not expect an announcement / trailer anytime soon. We’ve seen online rumors and have heard client speculation that a trailer could drop as early as next month, but Darion’s take is that investors / gamers will have to wait longer.”
To this end, Lowenstein has suggested that investors looking for a viable video game company should lean toward mobile gaming, rather than Rockstar parent company Take-Two, for more immediate investment growth. If the wait really does last until Holiday 2021, that, of course, will be a disappointment to many fans, but given Rockstar’s commitment to quality and impressive world-building, it is certainly understandable. If only we had Auntie Poulet to look into the future and tell us for sure how long the wait will be.
