Friday The 13th Slasher Edition Revealed, Includes Authentic Replica Mask (VIDEO)
Friday the 13th: The Game was victim to a widely known rocky launch, with seemingly endless bugs and server issues presenting themselves to players. However, developer IllFonic showed dedication to their promising game’s premise, repairing many of the worst-offending glitches and delivering a solid slasher-fest that horror fans could appreciate. This newfound momentum was unfortunately cut short in recent weeks, as legal issues stood to prevent any further content to be produced for the movie-based survival game.
As a last treat for fans, publishers Gun Media and Nighthawk Interactive have introduced an ultimate edition of Friday the 13th: The Game dubbed the “Ultimate Slasher Collector’s Edition.” The new version will contain all previously released DLC as well as several physical goodies that many fans would surely love to get their hands on.
These items include a spiffy limited edition poster and the addition of a pretty cool Jason replica mask pulled from his murderous appearance in Friday the 13th: Part III. Announcement of the Slasher Edition came alongside a predictably ultra-violent new trailer, which can be viewed below:
For those wondering what one would spend for such a special edition, Amazon prices the Ultimate Slasher Collector’s Edition at $69.99, an amount admittedly well above a fresh retail release. For those who feel a simple Jason mask replica isn’t worth the extra cost, a much more reasonable $39.99 can be found in the regular Ultimate Slasher Edition, which offers only the game and DLC, but sans all the physical goodies. Both versions of Friday the 13th: The Game are set to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 4th.
What do you think? Are you looking to get your Jason mask from this collector pack, or are you seeing this as nothing more than a last-minute cash grab on the Friday The 13th franchise?
