Four More Dragon Ball FighterZ Characters Revealed Alongside New Story Mode Details

FighterZ Characters Revealed – New Story Mode Details

It wasn’t long ago when developer Arc System Works revealed the addition of Dragon Ball characters Piccolo and Krillin to their upcoming arcade-style fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ. The welcome roster expansion was hardly a surprise to fans, but the news set expectations to Super Saiyan levels regarding more reveals down the line. That time has come with the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump revealing four new FighterZ characters, while also touching on a few story mode details for the game.

The most prominent of the newly divulged fighters is the Super Saiyan Blue forms of Goku and Vegeta, beyond godlike versions of their already-included base forms. It’s unknown if these two teal-topped designs will appear as selectable fighters or will be limited to in-game transformations, but they are a nice bonus for fans nonetheless. The other new duo heading to Dragon Ball FighterZ are Dr. Gero’s mechanized soldiers Android 16 and Android 18. Android 17 is also set to make an appearance via one of 18’s special combo attacks, but the character has yet to be officially confirmed as a playable member of the roster.

Out of the bunch, Android 16 seems like a curious addition to FighterZ as the character wasn’t exactly prominent outside Dragon Ball‘s Cell Saga. His return is stated to be attributed to the game’s “what-if” campaign, where 16 is to play a large role battling Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters. The magazine also let loose that the game’s online multiplayer will allow for up to six players to engage in three-on-three battles with characters switching in and out in real time.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to come to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next year while a Nintendo Switch version is being ruled a definite possibility for the future. Arc System Works seems to be moving development along quite nicely, with new FighterZ characters and gameplay tidbits coming forward on a pretty regular basis. If all goes well, fresh screenshots and footage should be expected in the next few weeks, especially since a closed beta is set to begin on September 16-18. Registration for said beta will open later this week on August 22nd, moved forward from its initial July 26 date.

What do you think? Are Goku and Vegeta’s Super Saiyan Blue forms a great addition, or will they break the game due to how powerful the pair are? Who will be the next new fighter?
